Nature reserve Kostolecká tiesňava (“Kostolecká gorge”)
A 500-metre-long Kostolecká gorge lined by rock walls also proofs the power of Manín stream. It was created by stream cuts into Drieňovka cliff, while its right densely overgrown part is decorated by broken cliff structures.
Limestone deposits on the left side have under influence of tectonic process corrugated, therefore today we see them sloping or being overturned in walls. A huge brash cone falls under rock overhang toward the road. Climbers who improve their skills at this place, call this largest rock overhang in Slovakia a “Kostolecký dome” or a “Roof of Slovakia”. In contrast with Manín, Drieňovka has visibly smaller cliff structure, but thanks to the unique rock relief Kostolecká gorge is an amazing natural phenomenon.
