Villa of Milchov family
The building from 1900 in the city centre was originally a villa of Milchov family who were producers of bryndza cheese and later the building was changed to a municipal library. The oldest known document about the existence of a municipal public library is a statement about the establishment of the library board of Slovak nationality on 21st May 1925 a Questionnaire about legitimate municipal contributions to public libraries. In 1986, after several modifications a department for children and youth was transferred to the district library basement as well as a newly opened music department and a video shop was opened here in 1987. From the 1st July 1996, the library became a part of current cultural centre of Považie and it changed its name to Považská library. The building of the city library was pronounced a national cultural monument in 2000.
